The Components of the Best Calgary Window Tinting

Essentially, you can divide any nano ceramic tinting into three distinct layers, which we describe in some detail below:

Adhesive

The first layers are adhesive layers. They are the closest layer to your vehicle and perform the essential role of bonding with the surface of your window. All adhesives and paints fare far better when the surface is correctly prepared and washed, so if you plan to install any nano ceramic tinting, make sure you give your car a good wash beforehand.

Polyurethane

The meat and potatoes of this protective covering is the polyurethane. Polyurethane acts as a UV blocker and further resists abrasion. Typically, this is the material that makes up your car paint in the first place, but reformulating it makes a tremendous protective film for your windows as well.

Titanium Nitride

Finally, the integral part of the nano ceramic tinting is titanium nitride. This material provides the protection that you expect from a quality film. Also, it helps to keep your vehicle fresh during the warm summer months. Typically, the small particles of titanium nitride are sandwiched between the layers of polyurethane to provide an even and smooth finish.

Removing window film is a straightforward process if you have the right tools. However, it is getting the right tools and using them correctly, which often causes frustration. Luckily, you can learn about the proper tools and the correct steps to take, right here!

The first part of removing your 3M window tinting is to gather your tools. Here is a shortlist of the supplies you will need:

  • Ammonia-based cleaner
  • Warm soap and water solution
  • Heating gun, hairdryer, etc.
  • Scraper, flat razor tool
  • Can-do attitude
  • Spray bottles

The Process of Removing Window Tinting

1. Spray the window

The first step in the process of removing your 3M window tinting is spraying the window. Use your ammonia-based cleaner here, and remember, you can never use too much. The purpose of spraying the window is to denature the adhesive, so the more you use, the quicker it will go.

2. Let the Cleaner Sit

Next, leave the cleaner to sit on the tinted window for about an hour. If you can leave it for longer, that’s great. Similarly, if you are in a rush to finish the job, moving onto the next step will work, but it might make the job a bit more challenging.

3. Peel the Window Tinting

Just like a new piece of consumer technology, you can now begin to peel off the tint. At this stage, you want to start at the edge (ideally corner) of the sheet and work your way along the whole piece. For an even easier peel, consider leaving your vehicle outside and peeling during the warmer part of the day.

However, you should also begin slowly and observe how the window looks after the removal. If you see the adhesive remain on the window surface, consider moving onto the next step instead of continuing. Likewise, if you notice the peeled-away tint is clear, stop and move onto the next step.

4. Utilize the Heat Gun

You can follow this step if you are experiencing the issues above, or even if you are just worried about the potential gunk that may be left behind. The process here is simple. Instead of the ammonia denaturing the adhesive, you are heating the adhesive until it becomes semi-liquid again. Therefore, you should notice a distinct difference as you pull the tinting material away from the glass, once it is warm enough. Please follow all safety precautions for distance, as per the instructions from the heat gun manufacturer.

5. Clean Up and Inspection

After you remove the tinting material, you are finally in the home stretch. Inspect the window for smudges or remaining adhesive, and use your soapy water solution to wipe it away gently. Finally, once you are satisfied that the job is complete, stand back and admire the reflection of an independent, capable person in your freshly cleaned window.

Getting window tinting in Calgary might seem like a summer-type job, but without question, you should also consider getting it during winter. But you might be thinking: why would I get window tinting in Calgary, particularly, 3M window tints, in winter?

As you can see from the points below, there are a few valuable reasons on why you should think about getting 3M window tinting for the winter:

3 Reasons To Get 3M Window Tinting In Calgary For Winter

More Insulation For Your Vehicle

Window tinting will provide your vehicle with a layer of insulation that will keep the heat in during the winter season. The thin layers will help build a buffer and prevent any heat from exiting your vehicle, keeping your car warm and comfortable. You’ll save time warming up your vehicle, and spend less on your heater. It’s a win-win situation for those freezing -30 days.

Better Visibility When Driving

Winter is a terrible season to be on the road. Your visibility will be impaired as you’ll have to deal with snow, muck, and the worse of all, glare from the sun reflecting off the snow. It can be hard to see and make it dangerous to drive.

But that won’t be an issue if you have the best window tinting in Calgary ready to protect you. By getting 3M window tinting, you are adding a layer of protection for your driving, reducing the glare from the ice, snow, sun and any oncoming lights. You will be able to drive safer than ever before, even when the roads are terrible.

Less Fade On The Road

You might think that without the sun’s harmful UV rays that the interior part of your vehicle will be protected. Well, you’ll be wrong. The reflection from the sun, as well as the sun itself, can still cause internal damage to your vehicle.

But by getting 3M window tinting, you can prevent the inside your vehicle from fading. This layer of protection maintains the condition of the interior of your car, whether it is winter or summertime.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s the dead of winter or the snow is starting to fall, 3M window tinting can make a massive difference to the protection of your vehicle, and most importantly, make it safer for you to be on the road.
