If you want your car to have the best window tint in Calgary, it all starts with getting the install done the right way. Most issues that people experience with their 3M window tint, like the appearance of bubbles, are a direct result of a sloppy install. So what does the installation process for the best window tint in Calgary entail?
In today’s post, we explain how to get the best window tint for your ride.
Choosing the Best Window Tint in Calgary
Before applying 3M window tint film, you need to choose the right product for your vehicle. Depending on what you want to get out of your tint, there are quite a few options for you to choose from, including the 3M™ Crystalline Series, 3M™ Colour Stable Series and 3M™ Ceramic IR Series. Once you’ve selected your product of choice, it’s time to apply it to your windows.
Get the Best Window Tint in Calgary in 4 Steps
Prepare The Surface
Because window tint film is applied on the inside of a vehicle’s window, the process of getting the best window tint in Calgary starts by ensuring the inside window surface is free of all dirt, debris, streaks, and any old window film. The glass must be cleaned thoroughly to ensure the film can be applied flush to the glass surface.
Measure & Cut
You wouldn’t put on a pair of jeans that don’t fit your frame, and the same concept applies to 3M window tinting. It’s extremely important to measure and cut the film to the proper size accurately. To do this, take a section of window tint larger than the window, fit the piece of film to the window and secure it with scotch tape. Placing the film over the window is an easy way to get accurate measurements, and the film can then be cut with a knife, leaving a piece of film that will fit your car’s window like a glove.
Apply The Film
Once the window’s surface is cleaned and the film is prepped, it’s time to apply. For the best results, it’s important to mist the inside of the window with distilled water. Water acts as a buffer layer when adjusting the position of the window tint on the glass and activates the adhesive on the window tint film. The film then gets applied, with the adhesive side facing the glass. At this point, there will likely be air bubbles in the film that need to be smoothed out quickly.
Air bubbles are removed by using a squeegee or plastic card. Bubble removal is done by pressing the squeegee in the middle of the window, then slowly pushing the trapped air toward the edge of the film. The window tint will have a slightly distorted, ripple look when the bubbles have all been smoothed out. That is normal and will smooth out as the window tint dries or heats up in the sun.
Let It Dry
It can take up to seven days for a freshly installed window tint to dry completely, so don’t roll down your window for at least a week. Rolling down your window too soon can peel or wrinkle the film, and you will need to redo your window tint job if you want to drive around with the best window tint in Calgary.
